Former Counting On star Jill Dillard is exposing a hateful fan she faced on social media and fighting back with a bold statement. She’s been making headlines for two recent projects, and it looks like fans have a lot to say. While some are praising her, plenty of others have taken issue with her choices. Recently, Jill has been using her voice to speak out against the IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles). This is the religious organization her family has been a part of for years. She made an appearance in Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets and discussed her upbringing in the IBLP. The docuseries exposed many of the harmful teachings of the religious organization.
In addition, Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard are releasing a new book in January. It’s titled Counting the Cost and talks about Jill’s time on TLC and growing up in the spotlight.
Because she’s breaking her silence, some of her followers think she’s being disrespectful to her parents. They think she’s speaking badly about them by talking about the IBLP. Because of this, she’s receiving many hurtful comments.
This time, she decided it was time to set the record straight.

On her Instagram Stories, Jill shared a screenshot of a message she received and shared her response as well. The fan called Jill out for saying that she was harmed by her parents. The fan then drew attention to children who are “abused and neglected.”
They added, “Bottom line is your parents thought they were doing the right thing. This is Hollywood’s way of continuing to make Christians the bad guy.”
The fan finally asked Jill Dillard if she would be telling the “whole truth.”
In response, the Duggar daughter made it clear that she isn’t “minimizing” her own experience or the experiences of others.
She continued, “I’m also not saying you can’t recognize the beauty amidst the trials. It’s like roses and thorns. They can coexist. You can savor the beauty while still recognizing the harsh realities and calling them out.”
She added that she knows she and nobody else is perfect. Then, she said, “My love for my family hasn’t changed…that’s not what this is about.”
