The Duggars are exposed in a new docuseries.

As TV Shows Ace has reported, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Friday. The four-part docuseries exposes many of the harmful beliefs held by those in the IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles). In the docuseries, the IBLP is described as a cult.

The Duggar family was heavily featured in the series because they are a part of the IBLP. Jill Dillard, Jim Bob and Michelle’s daughter broke her silence on the manipulation and pressure placed on her by her family and by TLC.

In the series, IBLP survivors and experts shared about the toxic practices within the religion. For example, children and women are often hit. Abuse and control also seem to be prominent in the IBLP, as shown in the series.

  1. I think ALL organized religion is toxic. People compete, people gossip and people are prone to interpreting scripture how they want to and telling others how to. People think that if they go to church one day, it clears the rest of the week to be horrible, and then just go make it right again the next week. The super right-wing religions ARE the worst of the worst. Many in these sects are not well educated and that makes them more prone to suggestion and influence. I have peace and security in my personal relationship with God. PERSONAL. The last thing I would ever do is congregate and listen to sermons or attend bible studies that are open to interpretation or worse, given with evil intent, greed, corruption, and abuse, as we have seen with the Duggar ilk.
