Bringing Up Bates stars Lydia Romeike and Trace Bates have revealed their baby boy’s name! The couple took to social media to share their exciting news with fans on Friday evening. Trace and Lydia are currently expecting their first baby in September 2023. They recently learned that the baby is a boy, but at that point, they didn’t reveal the name they had selected. They’ve kept fans updated along the way, sharing videos from her checkups and documenting her growing baby bump. Despite feeling pretty sick, Lydia’s pregnancy seems to be going smoothly.
Now, the couple is at a very exciting point in their journey to parenthood. They finally revealed the baby’s name!

On Friday, the couple dropped a new YouTube video to share the big news. To reveal the baby’s name to the world, the couple blew up several balloons with a different baby boy’s name written on each one. The names include Flynn, Beck, Brooks, Ryker, Crew, and Knox. One by one, they popped the balloons, revealing which ones they weren’t choosing.
The remaining name was Ryker. They showed off the final balloon and then pulled out another balloon with Cruise written on it.
So, the baby boy’s name is Ryker Cruise!
Why did they choose this name?
After announcing the baby’s name, the couple talked about why they selected it. Trace said that he has always liked the name, Ryker. He also likes that it is a German name, which makes sense because Lydia is German. They’ve loved the name since before they were married, so they were excited to use it for their first baby.
The meaning of Cruise is bold and fierce, which the couple appreciates. As of now, they’re going with the Cruise spelling, but they also considered Cruz.
