Kevin Costner Chose Wife Over ‘Yellowstone,’ Wants Reconciliation
Looks like Yellowstone star Kevin Costner chose his wife, Christine Baumgartner over his Golden Globe-winning role as John Dutton. Yet, is the show to blame?
Kevin Costner’s Personal & Professional Life In Chaos
Kevin Costner and Yellowstone, the hit series he stars in, has been in the headlines of late. However, last week, there were several big developments.
Firstly, his wife of nearly 20 years filed for divorce. This blindsided Costner, who never saw this coming.
Next, Paramount announced that Yellowstone would end when they complete the final six episodes of Season 5. This is after months of headlines revealing animosity on the set.
Lastly, there was a rumor that Costner will not be returning to the set until he approves what happens to his character John Dutton.
However, according to Radar Online, the Field Of Dreams star is ready to fix both. They report that sources “close to him” blame his “overblown ego” for this huge mess. But, he is determined to fix things. Everything.
Kevin is crushed by the reality that he is facing disaster in both his personal and professional lives. Now, he’s faced with the enormous task of trying to fix both.
Why are both interconnected?
Christine Baumgartner Costner Upset About Husband’s Work Schedule
Currently, Kevin Costner is starring in Yellowstone, the top television show. Despite this success, his now estranged wife Christine had allegedly given him an ultimatum. She wanted him to reduce his workload. Instead, she wanted him to spend time with their three children, Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12. They live in Santa Barbara, while the Paramount series films in Montana.
The source revealed, “Kevin paid her lip service by demanding a more favorable shooting schedule on Yellowstone.” Although the source did not cite this as the source of conflict with Paramount and Taylor Sheridan, Costner has infamously been at odds with them by following his contract to a T. That means his availability is only about a week.
However, another project he is working on may have been the breaking point with both Paramount and his wife. That source shared, “But then he threw gasoline on the fire by using that time to focus on his Civil War project.”
The project they are referring to is called Horizon. This is a four-movie Civil War and Westward Expansion epic. He has already filmed the first movie but is currently in Utah filming the second movie.
This bonus project is likely what set off both Paramount and Christine.

Is Kevin Costner Obsessed With Legacy?
Right now, Kevin Costner has a lot of apologizing to do. Perhaps a trip to the jewelry store should be his first stop. One source acidly “blabbed,” “He’s worth a quarter of a billion dollars and she had the tiniest engagement ring in Hollywood.” Perhaps a blue bag and a few carats could help woo back his beloved wife.
Yet, there will be more that he will need to do. The 68-year-old will need to tame his workaholic tendencies. He will need to stop thinking about his Hollywood legacy and start thinking about his family.
He’d think nothing of being away for months at a time on the Yellowstone set — or other projects — if he thought it would cement his status as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Will Kevin Costner eat up a double portion of humble pie and make both the Yellowstone set and his wife welcome him back with open arms?
