Bringing Up Bates star Jackson Bates is opening up about how he really felt growing up in a family with 19 kids. Keep reading to find out.

Jackson recently appeared on his friend Jonas’ podcast. While Jonas cut Jackson’s hair, they filmed a little Q&A video, which was then posted on YouTube.

In the video, Jackson talked about his many siblings. He’s the 12th of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ 19 kids.

Did Bringing Up Bates star Jackson Bates just shade his parents?

In the video, Jackson discussed his plans for having kids in the future. He and his fiance, Emerson Wells, will tie the knot this fall. After that, they plan to have three kids. He wants to be able to spend time with each of them individually and create a strong bond with them too. It sounds like quality time is important to him.

Then, he said, “I don’t want any of my children to feel like they don’t have enough time with me or neglected in any way.”

After fans heard that statement, they took to Reddit to discuss it, and some think it’s a dig at Gil and Kelly Jo. One Bringing Up Bates fan said, “Jackson just verbalized what we already knew. From him down they didn’t get much quality time with the parents and felt neglected. This is why this next group of kids are going to be so interesting to watch!”

Another Reddit user added, “I’m not surprised if he felt a bit lost in the crowd of 20+ family members.”

Jackson Bates also chats about his sibling relationships.

Having 18 siblings also comes with its perks. In this new video, Jackson talked about some of the great friendships he has with his siblings, even to this day. As a child, he spent most of his time with Warden, Isaiah, and Zach. He was pretty close with Trace Bates too, but they drifted apart a bit as they got older.

After Jackson’s sister, Alyssa Bates married John Webster, he grew closer to her. Jackson recently moved to Florida, but most of his family still lives in Tennessee. Two of his sisters, Erin Paine and Alyssa Webster, both live in Florida with their families, but it’s unclear how close they are.
