Is Vanderpump Rules real or staged? The hit Bravo reality series is nearing the end of its tenth season. With that has come a lot of drama but how much of it is genuine and how much is created for entertainment value? Read on for more details and to see what the cast has to say.

Vanderpump Rules Real Or Staged? The Cast Speaks Out

Spawned from RHOBH, Lisa Vanderpump felt that she had something special at her SUR restaurant. The employees were all co-mingling, dating, and best friends. Therefore, it was built-in drama that was made for television. Thus, Vanderpump Rules was born and has been running for ten seasons now. Though some of the original cast has since departed, Season 10 has been by far one of the most dramatic. It is quite reminiscent of the early days when Jax Taylor slept with his best friend, Tom Sandoval’s girlfriend, Kristen Doute. She was also best friends with Jax’s ex, Stassi Schroeder but both Doute and Taylor vehemently denied this happened. Then, it came out and it was jaw-dropping.

After a lackluster Season 9, fans still came back to see what Season 10 had to offer. Less than a month after it began, ‘Scandoval’ broke. It was soon revealed that Tom Sandoval had been cheating on his longtime girlfriend and co-star, Ariana Madix. It was not just with anyone but rather their close friend, Raquel Leviss and this created shockwaves through the Bravo-verse. Suddenly, people who did not even watch Vanderpump Rules were suddenly tuning in. It made people wonder if this had been set up for ratings though Lisa Vanderpump has denied it.

According to In Touch Weekly, Jax Taylor has claimed to Us Weekly that the show did have an element of being staged. However, he said this around the time that he exited the series. “I was 100 percent checked out at the end. I was just very irritable on the show. It was getting a little bit too scripted for me and I just couldn’t do it anymore. It wasn’t fun.” Prior to this, however, Taylor maintained that it was genuine and real.

What Do The Others Say?

Though Jax Taylor flip-flopped on whether or not Vanderpump Rules was real or not, others have spoken out. OG Katie Maloney shared that they often lean toward the negative over the positive. Yet, she did say this to Galore: “It’s pretty not-scripted.” Finally, Tom Sandoval never really said much either way but, as Katie said, he is not always happy with the bad stuff being played out. “Obviously, I’m not thrilled, but Vanderpump Rules follows our real lives, and sometimes Ariana and I have fights, like anyone else.” This definitely resonates now more than ever.

Do you think that the show is somewhat staged or do you think it is as organic as it can be for a reality series? Let us know and watch Vanderpump Rules Wednesdays on Bravo.
