Is TLC Canceling ‘Sister Wives’ After Season 18?
It is no secret or surprise that Sister Wives Season 18 is happening. A very large chunk of the family has been very open in confirming filming is underway. Kody Brown has even messed up and leaked a few spoilers via Cameo videos. The question fans really have for the network and family is simple: What happens AFTER Season 18? Will TLC cancel the series now that Kody Brown has lost three of his wives and has seemingly become a monogamous man? Is there even a point in continuing the series at this point? Would it be better for the network to pursue a spin-off instead?
Fortunately, Sister Wives producer Chris Poole sat down with Variety recently and gave a sizable scoop on what fans can expect from this TLC series in the future. Moreover, he cleared the air on whether fans had to worry about the series coming to an end.
Will TLC cancel Sister Wives after Season 18?
Turns out, producer Chris Poole actually hopes the TLC series never comes to an end. He explained that Kody Brown losing nearly all of his wives is huge, but it doesn’t stop the story from moving forward. If anything, the story just shifts into a co-parenting situation as a plural family that has fallen apart has to figure out how to handle being a broken family with so many shared children.
Chris Poole tells Variety that the production team has already filmed a substantial amount of footage following Christine Brown leaving Kody. He explains that there are a lot of stories left to be told and a fair amount of drama for fans to watch unfold. According to this producer, there are no signs of Sister Wives coming to an end or even slowing down.
There’s always something going on. I am confident there’s always going to be something going on, because they are who they are.
Some fans want the show to end
Now, there is another component at play and it involves ratings. Is Sister Wives continuing beyond Season 18 something fans even want to happen? Learning the series is pulling full steam ahead has actually caused some fans to become extremely upset as they aren’t sure more Sister Wives is really want they want. Likewise, fans loathe the idea of watching Kody and Robyn Brown enjoy being married to each other without other wives in the picture.
