Jenna Johnson Reveals Son Rome Is Her ‘Rainbow Baby’
For several years now, DWTS pro Jenna Johnson has talked about baby fever. In interviews, she always said that she and her husband Val Chmerkovskiy would love to have a family of their own.
Thankfully, their dreams came true in January this year. Jenna gave birth to their son Rome.
Now that the baby is a few months old, Jenna is speaking up about her pregnancy and fertility journey. And sadly, she admits that she was pregnant before Rome and miscarried. Keep reading to see what she has to say.
Jenna Johnson is thankful to be a mother — even after all the pain and heartbreak
Parenting isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson are elated to finally have a baby of their own.
Rome isn’t quite three months old yet, but Val and Jenna’s fans notice that they seem happier than they have been in ages. Recently, Jenna chose to open up a bit and share about their journey to conceive.
“My rainbow baby 🌈Our experience trying to conceive was much like a lot of yours.. unexpected, exciting, devastating, and not how we planned,” Jenna captioned her Instagram post. She uploaded several sweet pictures of Rome she had professionally taken.
“BUT, with as much heartache that followed miscarrying our first pregnancy.. I know without a doubt that it all happened as it should. And although there were many times I questioned WHY and HOW and silently cried when no one knew, I never gave up on my dream of becoming a mother.”
The 28-year-old dancer went on to say that the pain of infertility and pregnancy loss has made her time with Rome so much more special. She then went on to give a shoutout to those who helped and supported her along the way.
“I love you both so so much ❤️” Jenna’s friend and fellow dancer Lindsay Arnold wrote in the comments.
“Sending so much love to you and Rome ! You are so strong ❤️❤️❤️” DWTS troupe member Kateryna Klishyna added.
Everyone in the comments section lifted the family up and shared well wishes for them.
The dancer isn’t alone in her journey to motherhood
In many ways, Jenna Johnson’s journey to motherhood is similar to her sister-in-law’s. Peta Murgatroyd is married to Val’s older brother, Maks Chmerkovskiy. Right now, Maks and Peta are expecting their second child. However, the journey to conceive had been long and difficult for the couple.
After Peta Murgatroyd came forward and shared about her own miscarriages, Jenna Johnson admitted she was in awe of her bravery.
“As a family [we’ve] obviously known about this and her struggles with it,” she told Us Weekly last summer. “She’s kept it very private for the past two years. So when I saw the beautiful piece that they did and that she finally opened up, I just called her and told her how proud I am of her, because I know how much heartbreak that brought her and how badly she wants another baby.”
Thankfully, both families now have exactly what they wished for.
