Are you ready for a twist on the fake relationship trope? The Professional Bridesmaid promises all sorts of rom-com fun. According to the Hallmark synopsis, when Maggie Bailey (King) was younger, she discovered she had a certain knack for being a bridesmaid. She had the “particular skill set” for handling any and all situations that could occur on that big day.
Therefore, it was natural to take this gift and turn it into her profession. “Now she uses her talents to help brides navigate the tricky emotional and social dynamics that go along with planning their big day, in addition to the practical.”
Now, Maggie has a big-time client, Alexis Shepard (Bianchi) who has a lot of clout. Moreover, she is the daughter of the Columbus mayor. He is up for reelection, so everything has to be perfect. This is why the mayor’s team chose to hire Maggie. With her in the bridal party, nothing can go wrong, right?
Secrets, Secrets
Most of all, Maggie has to keep her identity a secret. That seems easy enough. They have created a new identity for her as Maisie, Alexis’ childhood friend. That explains why no one ever heard of her before the big day.
However, they never planned for Henry Whittington (Massey) a local reporter to snoop around. This intrepid reporter was assigned to cover the wedding of the year. But, Henry is looking for a big story to make a name for himself. He is also trying to get some time with the mayor for a big scoop on a land development deal.
Now, Maggie has to do more than organize the three useless bridesmaids. She has to keep Henry focused on the wedding, not on her. But, as they grow closer to each other, the stakes become higher. Can she keep her heart and head straight until her client has completed her big day?
