Why Hallmark’s ‘Aurora Teagarden’ Announcement Hurt Candace Cameron Bure’s Nepo Baby Most
Sleuthers have had a lot to discuss the past few days since Hallmark Media announced Aurora Teagarden: Something New. There is a lot of chitchat on social media about Candace Cameron Bure losing this big role.
However, on closer inspection, this news hurts CCB’s nepo baby, daughter Natasha Bure.
Natasha Bure Was The Last Actress To Portray Younger Aurora Teagarden
Social media is abuzz because Hallmark has announced that they are reinventing Aurora Teagarden Mysteries with a younger star, Skyler Samuels. Many Sluethers are applauding Hallmark’s decision to revive the beloved mystery series and love Candace Cameron Bure’s talented replacement.
However, they may have missed out on something bigger that CCB may have lost in this announcement. That is because her nepo baby daughter, Natasha Bure, was the last person to portray a younger Aurora. Some fans may have even forgotten that Candace Cameron Bure challenged Hallmark to “snap up” her daughter for a Christmas movie.
In CCB’s last Hallmark movie, Aurora Teagarden: Haunted By Murder, mother and daughter both portrayed the red-headed sleuth. Natasha portrayed Aurora as a teen, solving her first mystery with new pal Sally (Lexa Daig’s daughter Mia Shanks).
When the Hallmark mystery premiered in February 2022, many fans surmised that perhaps the long-running franchise would go in that youthful direction. However, just two months later, CCB shocked fans when she chose to go to Great American Family, leaving the Aurora Teagarden cast jobless, and Sleuthers reeling. The franchise averaged about three movies a year. Therefore, this was surely a loss for this cast and crew.
Unfortunately, this move also seemed to hurt her daughter’s career. Moreover, this seems counterproductive to CCB’s mission to get her daughter to star in a Hallmark Christmas movie.
Candace Cameron Bure Challenged Hallmark To ‘Snap Up’ Nepo Baby Natasha Bure
Back in August 2021, Candace Cameron Bure spoke to The Heavy about her daughter Natasha Bure. Her daughter was starring along with Heather Locklear in Lifetime’s Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story. The proud mama was happy to promote her daughter’s work, even though this was for another network.
The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries star issued a challenge to Hallmark. “I’m very glad she’s out there doing her own thing, and I will happily promote all of her Lifetime movies, even though it’s the competing network. I’m her mother first so I will always be promoting them. If Hallmark doesn’t snatch her up for a Christmas movie, it’s Hallmark’s loss!”

Although Natasha Bure’s next role was not a Hallmark Christmas movie, she was cast in her mom’s final Aurora Teagarden Mystery. That could not have been difficult for CCB to make happen as she is an executive producer of the series. This is how the whole nepo baby monicker has grown of late.
Therefore, was the intention to launch Natasha into this mystery role? We don’t know. But, during this period, Candace was negotiating with Great American Family, and with Hallmark. She chose to leave Hallmark.
In addition, according to the Hallmarkies Podcast, the big Christmas Under Wraps sequel, A Cozy Christmas Inn, should have starred CCB, but instead starred her Full House costar, Jodie Sweetin. They surmised that at this time, she knew she was leaving Hallmark for GAF, and that is why she did not make a sequel to Hallmark’s most popular Christmas movie ever made.
Natasha Bure’s Last Role Was Aurora Teagarden
According to Natasha Bure’s IMDb page, her last role was that of a teenage Aurora. Before that, the 24-year-old starred in her Lifetime movie. Hallmark fans have also seen Natasha in her mom’s twinning holiday movie, Switched For Christmas.
Therefore, was Natasha Bure the biggest loser in Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries announcement? This is contrary to CCB’s threat that Hallmark suffer a “loss” if they did not “snap up” Natasha.
