Peta Murgatroyd Wants Her Husband Maks For Next ‘DWTS’ Judge
Peta Murgatroyd is loving life these days. Dancing With The Stars is on break for the summer, but she’s still having a blast at home with her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy and their son Shai.
The family of three made a hilarious video reenacting Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show. Without a doubt, there will be more fun family experiences before they think about DWTS auditions this fall.
Maks Chmerkovskiy hasn’t performed on the show since Season 25. However, Peta believes he definitely should come back — as the next judge.
Peta Murgatroyd thinks Maks would make the best DWTS judge
Maks Chmerkovskiy is no stranger to the judges’ table. He served as a judge on the Ukrainian version of Dancing With The Stars until the war broke out in early 2022.
And that’s precisely why his wife Peta Murgatroyd thinks he would be the perfect fit for Len Goodman’s empty seat.
“Of course. He would love to do that. I don’t know. I think that’s his next step,” Peta shared in a recent interview with Us Weekly. Without a doubt, he has enough necessary experience. “I think that he’s born to do that stuff. He loves to talk. You know Maks, he will talk your ear off.”
The Ukrainian-born dancer has a bit of a reputation for being a bad boy in the ballroom. But few could deny that he’s also one of the most talented pro dancers to ever grace the stage.
“[Maks] will give you advice. He will, like, lecture you. That’s the type of guy he is,” Peta continued. “He’s got so much passion behind what he says, and I think that that’s, you know, the perfect spot for him. But we’ll see.”

Will the Australian dancer come back after giving birth this summer?
Right now, Peta is expecting her second child with Maks. She is due in June, which doesn’t give her much time to train before the Season 32 premiere this fall. But when Us Weekly asked if she would like to return, Peta admitted that she would.
“I would love to be, if they want me. I’m here, I’m willing,” the professional dancer told the publication. “I’ll give birth and jump back in within, you know, the seven weeks that I did with Shai. I went back with Nick Viall that season, and I would gladly do it again.”
It would certainly be awkward if Peta Murgatroyd as a pro dancer and Maks Chmerkovskiy became a judge. The production team probably wouldn’t allow that to happen, which is why many DWTS fans suspect that Derek Hough’s fiancee Hayley Erbert hasn’t been called as a pro dancer.
