Today show’s weatherman Al Roker paid tribute to a friend he met after a decade. The 68-year-old posted a picture on Instagram with this old friend as he described how they met again. This comes after he tried to slide away from his co-host Sheinelle Jones who informed the viewers that Savannah Guthrie tested positive for COVID-19. Al Roker Meets The Monkees’ Drummer/Lead Vocalist

On Wednesday, the fan-favorite weathercaster paid tribute to the TV star Micky Dolenz who had also been a drummer/lead vocalist in the band The Monkees. He captioned the Instagram post, “Loved running into the great Micky Dolenz from #themonkees outside 30 Rock this morning.”

Dolenz was visiting NBC studios for an appearance on NY LIVE at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Roker also mentioned that the last he saw of Dolenz was for his band’s 45th-anniversary tour.

Micky Dolenz Is The Last Surviving Member Of The Monkees

Their last tour was in July 2011 and Dolenz is the last surviving member of the band that was formed in 1966.

Michael Nesmith, his bandmate, died in 2021. The band’s chart-topper was their 1968 hit song I’m A Believer. The song stayed on top of the charts for seven weeks straight which was written by Neil Diamond with Dolenz as the lead vocalist.

The Monkees got Dolenz his much-deserved stardom before he shifted to TV and the stage. In the comments section, fans loved the meeting between the two. One fan commented, “You guys rock.”

“Love him!!! Saw him at Cain Park a few years back… a consummate showman who gives such great energy!!” said another fan.

A third fan added, “Looking good.”

Al Roker also shared a throwback picture of himself with the stars of the popular show The Office in 2007. The weathercaster showed off his incredible physical transformation while sharing the heartwarming picture. The NBC journalist posted the image on Instagram after he reunited with Brian Baumgartner on Tuesday’s show.

Roker smiled brightly while posing alongside Craig Robinson, Baumgartner, and Angela Kinsey at the convention held in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The picture was paired with a new picture of Baumgartner teaching him the recipe for his go-to chili on the third hour of the morning show.
