Savannah Guthrie Left The Studio Abruptly
On Tuesday, Al Roker learned from Sheinelle that one of their co-hosts fell ill and this scared the weatherman as he tried to slide off the set. Savannah Guthrie hosted the morning segment for the first half hour. However, she soon had to leave after feeling unwell. The 44-year-old took a test and the results came positive for COVID-19. Savannah rushed back home to rest.
Sheinelle Jones sat alongside Savannah at the desk before she left. Al stepped in to cover for Savannah for a short time as seen in the clip shared on Twitter.

Viewers were left confused at this exchange and wished to know what happened to the host. Sheinelle, who stood next to Carson Daly and Al, informed viewers that Savannah was suffering from COVID-19.
She revealed, “It has been an interesting morning for us. As we said, Savannah left early. She wasn’t feeling great, so she took a COVID test. It came back positive. So, of course, as soon as we found out, she rushed home to rest up.”
The 44-year-old also had a message for Savannah and blew a kiss on the screen. She said, “So, Savannah, we love you. Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

While Sheinelle was confirming Savannah’s diagnosis, Carson noticed Al’s movements and asked, “Al, where are you doing? Where are you headed?”
Al chimed in, “Well, luckily Sheinelle was sitting between me and Savannah,” as he disappeared out of shot.
Sheinelle found Al’s attempt at social distancing funny and so did several viewers at home.
This comes after fans requested Al to rest better after he was seen working the night shift for the NBC Nightly News segment.
Al Roker Suffered Complications Due To COVID-19
Al Roker distancing himself from his co-hosts is justified. The fan-favorite weatherman had a health scare due to complications from his previous COVID-19 diagnosis. The 68-year-old suffered blood clots in the legs and lungs that required him to be hospitalized twice. He even had to undergo multiple surgeries to correct the issue.
At one point in time, Al Roker‘s wife Deborah Roberts feared for his life. However, the entire family remained hopeful and with fans’ prayers, the weathercaster healed and finally returned to the NBC show.
