‘The Walking Dead’ Daryl Spinoff Reveals New Details

Daryl Dixon getting his own spinoff show after the ending of The Walking Dead just makes sense. Of course, this fan-favorite character, and one of the few survivors since Season 1, is getting even more shine after the finale. The show got an announcement some time ago and fans have been speculating about its story ever since. Now we’ve finally gotten confirmation of the synopsis of the spinoff, as well as certain other details. There are more than a few reasons to be excited after seeing what this show is going to be all about.

The plot of the show comes courtesy of Daryl actor Norman Reedus himself and producer Greg Nicotero. They both went into some detail about what we’re going to see during interviews with the website ComicBook.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will see the southern survivor wash ashore in France with little knowledge as to how he got there. His objective from there on out will be to remember how he got there and to figure out a way home. This “fish out of water” concept seems perfect for the hardened walker-killing veteran. Norman Reedus seems just as excited about the concept as the fans.
“The tone is much different, the [cinematography is] much different. The lighting’s different,” Reedus said in his interview about the show. “We’re in castles, and the storyline has a religious vibe to it. Part of the story is me around a bunch of people speaking French. I’m trying to figure out like, ‘Is this gonna be a fight?”
The show has cast a number of French actors and filmed on location to truly bring this setting to life. This will be our first time seeing the way the walker outbreak has affected Europe, so it’s going to be a very interesting season.
The World Of The Walking Dead
There is a massive amount of content coming to The Walking Dead universe in 2023. First off, the Fear The Walking Dead finale is beginning in May. The original spinoff of the flagship show is meeting its end not long after the main show’s ending. This is going to make way for a slew of new shows, more than just The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. In June, there’s going to be The Walking Dead: Dead City. That’s the spinoff that will primarily follow the characters of Maggie and Negan. There is also a Rick and Michonne spinoff show that has a release window set in 2024. Essentially every major character from the main show is getting a follow-up between 2023-2024. So the story of these characters is far from over. Daryl’s story may be just beginning.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon doesn’t have a set release date just yet. But the release window says it is coming sometime in 2023, likely in the fall or winter.
