After learning that Alyssa Bates’ fifth child is a boy, fans began speculating about whether he would be her last baby. In the past, Alyssa has said that her fourth child, Maci, was her final child. She has now said the same during her pregnancy with Rhett, but some fans have wondered if she might want to give the little guy a brother in a few years.

Amid all of the questions and speculation, Alyssa is ready to set the record straight. On YouTube, she and her husband John sat down to film a Q&A video. Naturally, her plans for more kids came up.

Is she planning on having more kids after Rhett?

When a fan asked Alyssa whether she’ll be having more kids or if she wants to give Rhett a brother, she shared her very honest answer and reasoning. First, John teased that they would try to have a brother for Rhett and the baby would end up being another girl.

Then, the soon-to-be mom of five said, “The real reason is that I get so extremely sick. Every one, it gets worse. And this is the first time that I’ve been bed-ridden for that long and had to have IVs every week and been on so many medications. And I’m still throwing up and I’m this far along.”

Alyssa Bates added, “It just has really taken a toll on me.”

She admitted that it would be sweet for Rhett to have a brother, but it doesn’t sound like that’s an option due to her health.
