1000-Lb. Sisters Who Really Paid For Tammy Slaton’s Rehab?

Tammy Slaton spent over a year in rehab to get down to 550 pounds. This was so that she could get approved for her bariatric surgery which would both change and save her life. Yet, this is not an inexpensive expenditure. While her sister, Amy Halterman was supposedly paying for her apartment, who was paying for Tammy to stay in this facility? Some may think that it was TLC or that it was comped since she is on 1000-Lb. Sisters. Sadly, that was not the case.

According to The Sun, Tammy paid out of pocket for her 14-month rehab stay, per an insider. She had no help from production or anyone associated with the show which is surprising to learn. This could mean that despite getting a paycheck from the show, she did not see very much of it as it went right to the facility. Is that necessarily fair since many of the interactions and storylines revolved around Tammy Slaton and her attempt to succeed? That is up for discussion.

The rehab center that Tammy has been in has been under fire since Season 4 premiered. Fans struggled with the menu that the residents were offered. At one point, Tammy was asked if she wanted lasagna as a meal choice then could not understand why she gained weight rather than lost it. Admittedly, she shared that she did not want to just eat salads the entire time she was there. However, her other food choices were not that stellar to keep someone on track.

In the latest episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters, Tammy Slaton finally was able to tell her doctor that she was below 550 pounds. He was blown away that she had made it to 534 and was ready to take the necessary steps to get her approved for the surgery. It was not going to be cut and dry as she had to go through a few other doctors. Plus, she needs to really open up to her therapist or she won’t give her approval, either. However, it seems as though Tammy got what she wanted and is now living a happy life post-surgery. She is married and has plans to relocate so all is well that ends well.
