Tammy Slaton Shares Life Post-Gastric Bypass & Exercise
In the latest episodes of 1000-Lb. Sisters, Tammy Slaton discovered that she had finally met her weight loss goal. In order to be considered and ultimately approved for bariatric surgery, she had to get down to 550 pounds. This was a really hard feat for Tammy as she was yo-yo-ing with her weight. At one point, Tammy had gained weight and could not understand why. Finally, when her sisters Misty and Amanda came by the rehab to share devastating news, a miracle happened.
Tammy Slaton learned that she had gone down to 534 pounds and was beyond elated. This meant that she could finally be approved for the surgery. In next week’s episode, Tammy will meet with her doctor and then she will be seen by a handful of other specialists to get the final approval. However, it seems that she was approved and is now living her best life. Tammy spoke to Us Weekly about the struggles she faced to get to where she is today.
“The process of getting approved for surgery wasn’t easy. I worked my butt off. I was starving a lot of the time and my hard work paid off,” she explained. Tammy went on to add that her biggest struggle after the surgery was portion control. She did not want to hurt herself or jeopardize her recovery. As for her exercises, Tammy Slaton explained just how she attempts to stay in shape. “I like chair exercises, lifting weights, running the bike and walking,” she shared. However, there have been more changes in Tammy’s life.
A New Lease & Love On Life
Tammy Slaton does not just have a new body but she also has a new beau. Back in November, Tammy married Caleb Willingham who she met in rehab. However, one big question is obviously if the surgery has changed their relationship at all. Of course, Tammy was quick to give details on how that is going. Firstly, she noted that it has not affected their relationship.
She went on to add: “We support each other wholeheartedly. On our weight loss journeys, when he’s having issues with wanting to eat because he’s bored or because he’s an emotional eater, he comes to me and we talk about the situation. It’s the same for me and I talk to him. We talk about our issues and why we feel this way. We are true partners.” It seems like they are both on a great path and that is what we love to see and hear.
