’90 Day Fiance’ Star Daniele Gates Bankrupt?
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way star Daniele Gates may be bankrupt. The bigger question here is if her husband, Yohan knows about all of this. He seemed to think that they were going to move back to New York City, where she worked and lived, in a year. Yet, she crushed that dream by saying she wanted to stay with him in the Dominican Republic. So, what exactly is the story behind her bankruptcy? Read on for more details.
90 Day Fiance Star Daniele Gates Bankrupt?
When Daniele went to live with her husband on 90 Day Fiance, Yohan in the Dominican Republic, she had a plan. She had zero intentions of ever returning home to New York City. However, this was something she did not discuss with Yohan. He just believed that they would stay in the DR for a year. Then, once his spousal visa was approved, they would head over to NYC. As for Daniele, she was done with New York and even quit both of her jobs. In her mind, this was the permanent vacation that she had wanted so she was putting all of her eggs in one basket.
Yohan, for his part, had opened a butcher shop but Daniele was repulsed when she walked in for the first time. She knows that he has another job at a hotel but she started to fear for their finances. Daniele noted that she would not take care of them and be the sugar mama. So, what is the 90 Day Fiance star so worried about? According to Starcasm, Daniele filed for bankruptcy back in 2022 so just last year.
The history teacher/yoga instructor initially filed for Chapter 13 in January 2022. Within a few weeks, she changed it to Chapter 7. Apparently, Daniele’s liabilities totaled around $224,584.42. Furthermore, she was bringing in $1300 less than what she was spending. Though she told Yohan that her rent was 4K/month, it is actually $3,475 so it really is quite a lot. The filing stated that Daniele owed 36K in rent for an apartment in Yonkers but there was also a Bronx apartment in the filing, as well.

Daniele’s excessive rent was not the only heavy bill listed on her bankruptcy filing. The 90 Day Fiance star also had a “business debt” for her EZ Pass. This totaled 80K along with her student debt which was over 60K. Ultimately, she did get a discharge in May but it did not clear her of everything. This could be why the former Love In Paradise star does not want to go back home any time soon. Will Yohan understand her financial situation? More so, will he judge her and refuse to take any business advice from her?
