A recent Anya Taylor-Joy tweet got her fans excited. However, it was all for nothing. The actress revealed her account was hacked, and the message sent was not from her.

Here is what the tweet said and Anya’s response to the message.

Anya Taylor-Joy Twitter Account Hacked

On January 30, Anya Taylor-Joy got fans excited when she tweeted out one message. The post simply said, “The Queen’s Gambit 2.” This had everyone excited, and well over 81,000 people saw the message and got excited that she was possibly returning to the Netflix series where she played a chess prodigy in the 1950s.

However, the actress then came on a short time later and squashed all the fans’ excitement. She took to Instagram and let fans know that her Twitter had been hacked. It turned out she was not the one who sent that message at all and she wrote “it’s NOT me!”

It does appear that the actress has regained use of her Twitter account, as it is now set to “protected” so there is nothing to see there at this time.

Anya Taylor Joy’s Continued Success In Hollywood

The good news is that Anya Taylor-Joy doesn’t really need a Queen’s Gambit 2 because she is doing just fine without it. The Netflix series has no room for a sequel, as it told its entire story well in one season. On top of that, Taylor-Joy has been taking on some incredible roles in her career outside of that series.

While some people consider Queen’s Gambit to be her breakout role, it was just one of many things that helped make the actress a star. Her actual breakout came five years before she ever appeared in the Netflix series. In 2015. Anya starred in the Robert Eggers horror movie The Witch. This really put her at the forefront of casting agents and even won her the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor.

In 2016, she had her biggest movie hit when she starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s comeback success story Split. She starred as the Final Girl opposite James McAvoy’s serial killer. She reprised the role in the 2019 sequel Glass, which brought back Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson from Shyamalan’s Unbreakable.

Before Queen’s Gambit. Anya starred in an adaptation of Emma and then in the Marvel X-Men movie The New Mutants as Magik. After Queen’s Gambit, Anya continued to pick up impressive roles. She starred in Edgar Wright’s horror movie Last Night in Soho in 2021 and then reteamed with Eggers for The Northman in 2022. She also appeared in the new David O. Russell movie Amsterdam and the hit horror-comedy The Menu in 2022 as well.
