In 2022, Sleuthers had a meager amount of Hallmark mysteries. Will the network be ramping up its mystery production for 2023? Here is the latest news on 2023 mysteries.

Is Hallmark Ramping Up Mystery Production?

Sleuthers have been hoping for more mysteries in 2023. Already, a new Signature Mystery Series, Family History Mysteries: Buried Past starring Janel Parrish and Niall Matter kicked off the new year. Now, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will soon be airing their second new 2023 mystery on February 4, called Curious Caterer: Grilling Season.

This is a good start. However, will they be making more mysteries?

Currently, Alison Sweeney is working on a new mystery movie. However, she would not reveal what mystery she is filming. Sweeney, like Brennan Elliott, has starred in two previous mystery series. In Ali’s case, she has starred in both the Hannah Swensen/Murder She Baked series and the Chronicles Mysteries. Brennan was part of the Crossword Mysteries with Lacey Chabert, as well as The Flower Shop Mysteries with Brooke Shields.

But, when TV Shows Ace interviewed her in October, she revealed that she would like to make more mysteries. Also, she seemed coy when we asked whether she may want to create a third mystery series. She even laughed.

What we know is that she will say something when she can.

Hallmark Is Reportedly Making The Cases Of Mystery Lane

In what could be a coincidence or more mystery news, could Hallmark be making another mystery series? It certainly appears to be true. Recently, Sleepy Kitty Paw wrote on Twitter, “Mike Rohl currently directing a new Hallmark mystery, and potential movie series, THE CASES OF MYSTERY LANE, written by Joel Dovev and Margaux Froley, about an opposites-attract married couple who team up to become PI’s, and save their marriage in the process.”

They report that Mike Rohl, the director behind the first and third Princess Switch movies, as well as many episodes of When Calls The Heart, is currently directing the first in a possible series of mysteries. Although no names are attached, they did share that Joel Dovev (Bruce) and Margaux Froley (Let’s Get Physical, Secrets Of A Gold Digger Killer) have created a sort of anti-Hart To Hart mystery series.

But, Sleuthers may surmise that it is rather coincidental that Alison Sweeney is currently filming a mystery, and we have this report. Is this a coincidence, or could there be a connection? We don’t have any more information as both the Wedding Veil star has kept silent, as has Hallmark.

However, there will certainly be a big announcement soon.

Could There Be Second Cut, Color, Murder Mystery?

Lastly, some social media chatter between the Cut, Color Murder stars Ryan McPartlin and Julie Gonzalo hint that there could be a resolution to that shocking cliffhanger. Why the delay? Julie and Chris McNally became parents of a baby girl last June. The new mother may have chosen to enjoy this special time and not return to work until the baby was a bit older.

Is Hallmark Making More Mysteries?

January is nearly done, and already there is a lot of buzz about Hallmark mysteries. Although the network has not yet shared any official news about the future of some fan-favorite mysteries like Crossword Mysteries and Mystery 101, it does seem as if the network is starting to ramp up its mystery production. This looks like positive news for Sleuthers.

Sleuthers, do you feel optimistic about Hallmark mysteries in 2023?

    1. I love the mystery movies on Hallmark. I don’t really watch any of the other types of movies on Hallmark. The mystery movies are the only ones that are interesting and hold my attention. Hope that Mystery 101 will return, I really enjoyed the actors and the interesting plots. Hope there will be more mystery movies to watch on Hallmark.
