Most people really seem to struggle while navigating through a divorce, but not Cheryl Burke. The professional dancer wants everyone to know that she has completely moved on and is living her best life in 2023. She believes this is going to be her best year yet.
Her ex-husband Matthew Lawrence is now publically dating TLC singer Chilli. Meanwhile, Cheryl has kept her romantic life private. But she did manage to get custody of the dog she shared with Matthew.
In 2023, Cheryl Burke reports that she might be alone, but she definitely isn’t lonely. Keep reading to see why.
Cheryl Burke is moving on in the new year
These days, Cheryl Burke couldn’t be happier to be happy, healthy, and free. The former DWTS pro gave fans a life update on social media this week.
“I’m getting a lot of questions about how I’ve been doing lately and what’s been going on, so wanted to check in with you all,” the 38-year-old began her lengthy Instagram post. “If I could describe how I feel in one word I honestly couldn’t. Each day presents its own bliss but also its own challenges.”
Cheryl went on to describe how she deals with crippling anxiety some days, while on others she feels completely at peace.
“Today, I am proud to say that I am alone, not lonely, and though the past year had its challenges I feel so much pride in knowing that I got through it all by myself. … Normally, I would have jumped straight into another relationship, found a rebound or two, and gone out with my friends 7 nights a week while numbing by using and abusing alcohol however, this time, I choose a different path. A clearer path, a more conscious path.”
Despite all of the challenges she’s faced, Cheryl Burke says that she’s so proud of the woman she is today.
“Every night I go to sleep I make sure to write in my gratitude journal for the day. I am actually surprised to say that I had and never have been so eager for what tomorrow will bring. Through all of the ups and downs, and ‘the work’ I’ve done on myself, I find comfort in knowing that the only person who can fill up my cup, is ME. And for the first time, I can genuinely say that, I LOVE ME!”
Fans rally around the dancer and share encouraging words
Many people left positive, uplifting messages on Cheryl’s post.
“Happy for you that you are doing this only for you. That’s what’s most important,” one fan wrote.
“So proud and happy for you, Cheryl! Sending you lots of love ❤️” another added.
After retiring from DWTS, Cheryl Burke expressed her desire to return as a judge next year. It doesn’t appear that will happen, but she is determined to keep going and pursue her own creative projects from here on out.
