The Bachelor contestant Greer Blitzer apologizes for past tweet
The Bachelor contestant Greer Blitzer got America’s attention Monday night when she was given the first impression rose from Zach. After the finale aired, tweets from Greer’s past surfaced. She went to Instagram to apologize. While Greer was in high school she apparently defended a student who was wearing Blackface.
Greer apologized by saying, “The journey to love is filled with lessons and these lessons are also made on our journey of growth. In my past, I have made some uneducated, ignorant and frankly, wrong comments on my social media accounts.”She continued, “In particular, I used misguided arguments on Twitter to defend a student who dressed in Blackface as Tupac for Halloween.”
Greer went on to say, “I am deeply sorry to those I have hurt, especially those within the Black community, not because these screenshots have resurfaced, but because I ever shared these harmful opinions at all. Time and age do not excuse my actions, but this is not a reflection of who I am today.”
She also said she will forever regret making those statements. Greer mentioned she does not condone the opinions or behaviors she displayed during that time.
The post is pinned at the top of her page for fans to see.
This isn’t the first controversy
Greer Blitzer is not the first contestant to have to make apologies for past tweets or beliefs. Last season on The Bachelorette, Gabby Windey’s final rose winner was criticized for himself dressing in Blackface while in high school. After the photos came out, Erich apologized for his actions.
There was also controversy during Matt James’ season of The Bachelor when Rachel Kirkconnell had photos surface that was deemed filled with racism. It was coming to her defense that led to Chris Harrison leaving the franchise.
Are you surprised this information surfaced so soon after the premiere? Is she sincere in her apology?
