Is British Actor Julian Sands Still Missing?
Julian Sands went missing while hiking in the mountains on Friday, January 13. One week later and he still has not been found, and police are upping their search efforts in the mountains as they look for the actor.

Julian Sands still missing in California
On Friday, January 13, actor Julian Sands’s wife reported her husband as missing. The call was made to police at 7:30 p.m. PST that Friday and his vehicle was found in the Baldy Bowl area of Mt. Baldy in California. Sands, 65, was reportedly hiking after leaving his home in North Hollywood.
By January 20, police reported the search was still underway after they had to halt things when evidence of avalanches was observed earlier in the week on the west side of the slopes. As a result, the search was done via helicopter.
According to reports, the California Office of Emergency Services has a way to track cell phones using forensic technology, even if the phone has gone dead. There was a movement of the phone on January 13 and there were pings on both January 14 and January 15. The longer he is missing, the less chance anyone has of finding the actor alive.
The Mt. Baldy bowl area has proven deadly this winter for hiking. Two hikers have already died there when falling in the past month. There have also been 14 rescue missions over the last four weeks alone. A PSA was sent out, advising that the recent storms caused snow and ice conditions that are not favorable for hikers – even those with a high level of experience. One of the two deaths was considered an “experienced hiker.”
Who is Julian Sands?
Julian Sands is an English actor who has worked in the industry since 1982. After working in supporting roles in movies like The Killing Fields, he enjoyed his breakout role as the romantic lead in A Room With a View in 1984. Thanks to that movie’s success, Sands moved to Los Angeles and worked on a Hollywood career.
Since that time, he has appeared in genre fare, taking the lead role in the horror fantasy franchise Warlock. He also had big roles in movies like Arachnophobia, Leaving Las Vegas, and The Phantom of the Opera. His career has slowed down in recent years, with his last major movie being a supporting role in 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and TV roles on shows like Gotham and What/If.
Sands has been married twice. He was married to a British journalist named Sarah Harvey for three years. They have a son who is 38. He has been married to Evgenia Citkowitz since 1990. They have two daughters who are 27 and 24.
