The first episode was packed with drama as Tammy got emotional over her weight while Amy Halterman talked about motherhood. Season 3 ended with Tammy fighting for her life as her sister worried. Amy Halterman Is Doing Better Than Tammy Slaton
In the latest episode, Tammy recalls what happened after she was rushed to the hospital. She revealed that she woke up a week later on life support. The 36-year-old also shared that she was then at her highest weight, 714 pounds. The TLC star was soon put into a medically-induced coma after her oxygen levels dropped significantly and she became septic. The reality star teared up explaining that she could hear voices but had no idea if her family was with her.

On the other hand, the episode also revealed that Amy Halterman was doing better than her sister. The 35-year-old shared with viewers that she was really enjoying being a mother to Gage. She also added that she and her husband knew about her pregnancy with Glenn as she was constipated for three weeks straight. When asked by producers if she is worried about her sister Tammy, she revealed that she cannot imagine a life without her sister.
Amy Halterman Says She Doesn’t Look Like Tammy
However, what caught viewers’ eye was a fun moment on the show that fans feel was TLC exploiting Amy Halterman. In the episode, Amy explained how she was mistaken for Tammy given that they are so close in age. This is why she has always colored her hair differently. Talking about people mistaking her for Tammy, she said, “She’s like a sasquatch. I don’t think we look anything alike. They need to go get their eyes checked ’cause I don’t look like that b**ch.”

However, the moment she suggested that the ones who confused her with Tammy should get their eyes checked, TLC deliberately zoomed in on her eyes seemingly making fun of her disability.
Amy Halterman Suffers From Toxoplasmosis
For the unversed, Amy Halterman suffers from a rare eye condition that has left her legally blind. She suffers from a disease called congenital toxoplasmosis that she contracted while her mother was pregnant with her. The reality star explained, “One of the cats that my mom had, had toxoplasmosis. And she would clean up after the cats, or whatever, and she was pregnant with me.”

Toxoplasmosis results from infection with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite, which is one of the world’s most common parasites. Infection usually occurs by consuming undercooked contaminated meat, exposure to infected cat feces, or mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy.

Fans have also bashed the channel for exploiting the Slaton sisters stating that they might never really lose weight and TLC is cashing in on it.

I think that if the network really cared about Tammy they would find a way to help her loose the weight she needs and to ìprove her health. Instead og encouraging her weight gain anf near death experiences. They must have the contacts and funds to do it. But choose to watch her die for continuation of the show. That’s what greed is all about.
