HBO’s ‘The Wire’ Star Al Brown Dead At 83
Tragic news for fans of HBO’s The Wire as actor Al Brown has been confirmed dead at the age of 83. According to TMZ, the death of this beloved actor was confirmed by his family.

According to TMZ, Al Brown’s daughter Jenny confirmed he passed away on Friday. He was in Las Vegas at the time of his passing. Jenny did confirm his cause of death was losing his battle with Alzheimer’s. After confirming his passing, Al Brown’s daughter proceeded to tell the outlet all about her incredible father.

Prior to getting into acting, Al Brown was an Air Force vet. He served honorably doing two tours in Vietnam.
Jenny recalled that her father absolutely loved being an actor. He enjoyed being famous and it tickled him when he ran into fans that recognized him. She added that her father was always willing to stop and chat with fans when they spotted him out in public. This was a man who absolutely loved what he was doing with his life.

A closer look at his life
The late actor will always be remembered for playing Col. Stan Valchek in HBO’s hit show The Wire back in the 2000s. His character in the show was a Baltimore PD with a high ranking that often came off as being a bit corrupt. His character was recurring. But, his character did play a huge role in Season 2 of the series.
Per IMDb, the late actor had 22 credits attached to his resume that spanned over a time period of roughly two decades. The most recent credit on his resume appeared to be a TV short from 2014 called Fartcopter. He is also remembered by the Law and Order: SVU cast for his guard appearance on an episode of the series back in 2006.
Her also had a few small roles in a number of different films including The Replacements, 12 Monkeys, Lay the Favorite, Red Dragon, and Liberty Heights.
