Tragic breaking news for fans of American Idol as CJ Harris, a contest who made it to the top 6 in 2014, has been confirmed dead at the age of 31. American Idol alum CJ Harris dead at 33: Cause of death

Sadly, a family member tells TMZ that American Idol alum CJ Harris’ cause of death was a heart attack. After suffering from a heart attack in Jasper, Alabama on Sunday night he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he didn’t survive.

His audition blew people away

CJ Harris’ audition back in 2017 in Salt Lake City was a memorable one as he blew the judges away while performing his version of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Soulshine.”

At the time Judge Keith Urban had these words for CJ: “You sing ’cause you have to sing, not ’cause you want to sing. And, I mean that in the deepest way. And, that’s why it’s so believable and real.”

CJ went on to impress the judges and the viewers at home with powerful performances of “Too Close,” “American Woman,” and “Free Fallin’.” The judges ended up selecting him as a wild card during the semi-finals after he did not receive enough votes. Following his American Idol journey, CJ had the opportunity to perform at The Grand Ole alongside Darius Rucker. Most agreed Darius had a huge influence on CJ’s style as a performer. CJ also performed for a few audiences during American Idol‘s Season 13 tour.

Tributes to CJ Harris are pouring in across social media as most agree he is gone far too soon and still had a lot of life left to live.
