‘GMA’ Robin Roberts Announces She Is Getting Married
Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts has some big news for her fans. She is getting married to her long-time girlfriend, Amber Laign. She revealed the news on the morning show and said she was hesitant to announce it until she finally did.

Robin Roberts was on Good Morning America talking to motivational speaker and author Gabby Bernstein when she broke the big news. The women were talking about setting intentions for the new year when Roberts made her announcement. “I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet. OK, I’m saying ‘yes’ to marriage,” she said. “We’re getting married this year.”
Robin has been dating Amber Laign since 2005. The two had talked about marriage before, but they put it off for a time. Amber received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2021. Amber finished her radiation treatment in July. Robin herself also received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2007.
The announcement comes when the number of same-sex couples is growing in the United States. According to reports, there are now over one million same-sex households in the United States. This was an increase of over 120%. This also comes after the Congress and House passed a law to codify federal protections for same-sex and interracial marriages.
Who is Robin Roberts’ partner, Amber Laign?
Robin Roberts and Amber Laign have been together since 2005. Amber co-founded Plant Juice Oils, a company that creates sustainable, high-quality plant oils. She started the company with Marci Freede when they realized a more holistic approach was needed for people’s health conditions. Plant Juice Oils are made from hemp and are organically-sourced, non-GMO products.
Amber is also a pet lover. She and Robin adopted a Tibetan Spaniel Papillion from a rescue shelter and named him Lil’ Man Lukas. They even gave him his own Instagram account.
However, people are less likely to see much of Amber. Her Instagram account is private (she has a public one for her company) and she mostly stays out of the camera’s eyes. Robin even said that Amber prefers to remain supportive behind the cameras but is more reserved when one is on her.
She was also there for Robin throughout her entire cancer ordeal. Robin said that “not everybody wants to be in the spotlight. She’s very, very supportive. And she’s been right there beside me every step of the way.”
After Robin stuck with Amber through her own cancer battles, it sounds like the two women are finally ready to tie the knot after so many years of battles and triumphs.
