‘AGT: All Stars’: Howie Mandel Drops Golden Buzzer, On Who?

News, Reality TV

The America’s Got Talent (AGT): All Stars Season Premiere aired tonight and Howie Mandel has already dropped his golden buzzer. How does the golden buzzer work on AGT? And, who did the America’s Got Talent judge drop his golden buzzer on? Keep reading for the details and a refresher on what the golden buzzer means.

Refresher: How does the AGT golden buzzer work?

As those who have watched AGT since the beginning knows, the golden buzzer is a concept that was introduced during Season 9 of the competition series. During Season 9, the golden buzzer was mostly utilized by judges to break ties. It allowed a judge to push an act through to the next round regardless of what the other judges thought.

In Season 10, they altered how the golden buzzer worked and gave it a little more power. Now, each judge (including the host) gets one golden buzzer they can use to send an act straight through the lower levels of competition to the live shows.

Each judge (and the host) reserves their golden buzzer for when they see an act that truly leaves them speechless. It isn’t too surprising that a golden buzzer got used during tonight’s episode of AGT as this year’s theme is All Stars. So, the judges are watching performances from the best of the best.

One performance from tonight’s episode left Howie Mandel in awe as he dropped that golden buzzer.

AGT: All Stars — Who did Howie Mandel give his golden buzzer to?

Turns out, Howie Mandel decided to give his golden buzzer to the Light Balance Kids. The Light Balance Kids is an act that first appeared during Season 14 of AGT. During their Season 14 performance, The Light Balance Kids also snagged a golden buzzer and were finalists on the show. Simon Cowell admitted he was in awe of how individuals so young could create something so unique and impressive to watch.

For AGT: All Stars their performance involved getting sucked into an arcade game. They proceeded to dance their way through several very nostalgic arcade games. Jaws dropped and eyes were wide as the cameras panned the audience watching this incredible performance.

Once the performance concluded, Heidi Klum says she was sure they were too busy to see her. But, she was dancing with them the entire time. Simon added that words could not describe how brilliant he thought the performance was. Simon added, “if anything defines an all-star it was that performance.”

When it was Howie’s turn to speak, he said what was truly incredible about this performance was that these performers traveled from one of the darkest places in the world right now to bring light to America. And, he wanted to give them a little light back. So, he decided to hit the golden buzzer. The performers could be seen falling to their knees with tears streaming down their faces as golden tickets rained down on them.
