Good Morning America host Robin Roberts joined the slew of other women in journalism that took to Instagram to mourn the passing of the great Barbara Walters. Robin taking the time to pay tribute to Barbara was especially sweet because, as those who follow her knew, she was currently on a getaway with her partner Amber Laign.

As TvShowsAce previously reported, GMA fans are trying hard to respect Robin for taking some time off to be with her family for the holidays. But, viewers of GMA haven’t been thrilled with the fill-in anchors and are desperate for Robin to return to the show.

‘GMA’ Robin Roberts Says Goodbye To A ‘Fearless’ Woman

As TvShowsAce has previously reported, Barbara Walters’ passing was devastating to women in the journalism and talk show industry. There was a time when women didn’t host talk shows and women didn’t have a place as anchors on news programs. Barbara shattered that glass ceiling that separated men and women. She created The View to provide a platform for women to come together as journalists. Most agreed it would be easier to create a list of celebrities and politicians that Barbara didn’t interview.

For women like Robin Roberts, Barbara Walters was the trailblazer that cleared the path allowing her to have a seat at GMA. So, the passing of this legend was especially sad for Robin. Sad enough for her to break her vacation silence to pay tribute to this incredible woman.

Robin Roberts shared a photo of herself with Barbara as she paid tribute to the incredible woman.

Barbara Walters passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 93. An incredible life and woman. A trailblazer in every sense of the word. Fearless and brave are two words that immediately come to mind. She was also generous and kind. I remember the first time I met her in person. We were both speakers at an event. I sent her flowers afterwards and she immediately sent me a handwritten thank you note. Thank you Barbara for your stellar example and friendship. Sending my condolences to her daughter and family.

Robin added prayer hands to the end of her post thanking Barbara for everything she did for women everywhere.

Rest in peace, Barbara Walters.
