Just before the new year, Al Roker’s wife Deborah Roberts was saddened by a tragic death. Attached to an old photo, Al Roker’s wife notes that she is mourning the loss of a friend and a mentor as the year 2022 comes to an end. Deborah Roberts was joining the many other individuals who had taken to their social media profiles to mourn the passing of the legendary Barbara Walters.
Al Roker wife Deborah Roberts ‘saddened’ by tragic death
The last few months of 2022 have been pretty rough on Al Roker and his wife Deborah. Fans of the Roker family agree it felt like Al had spent an eternity in the hospital battling blood clots. He, however, did make it home in time to spend Christmas and New Year with his family. During the second week of December, Al Roker’s family was hit with tragedy again when they were forced to say goodbye to his sister, Patricia, who passed away.
He penned in the caption of his post from about three weeks ago: “Our hearts are broken but feeling some heart balm that our sweet sister, Patricia, is with our Mom, Isabel, now after a stroke. “Boo” (short for Buddha because she would fold here hands on her belly when she was a baby) leaves a devoted husband, Nigel, her twins Kaizon and Kailene, sons, Langston and Adam and a beautiful grandson, Easton.”
Sadly, the family did not escape December of 2022 without having to mourn the loss of another. Deborah penned at the beginning of her post about Barbara Walter’s passing: “So saddened to hear of the passing of my journalism mentor and friend, Barbara Walters.”
I’ll never forget the phone call I got from her asking me to join her @abc2020 , a show I revered and watched since my days as a teen in Georgia. She taught me so much and took me under her wing. We’ve lost her at age 93. But her powerful legacy lives on in all the women journalists who were influenced by her passionate work and searing interviews. She paved they way. Rest in peace Barbara.

Rest in peace, Barbara Walters.
