The View moderator is under fire for a new interview

Last week, Whoopi Goldberg made headlines for her interview with The Times. Once again, she claimed that the Holocaust had nothing to do with race. She has since broken her silence on those fresh hurtful comments. The actress issued another apology to the Jewish community.

Whoopi Goldberg said she didn’t want to make it look as if she was “doubling down” on her previous statements. Back in February, Whoopi had a suspension from The View after she claimed the Holocaust was “not about race.” She made those same comments in her interview with The Times.

“My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish people,'” Whoopi Goldberg explained. “So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race.”

The journalist warned her about agreeing with Nazis, who also saw Jewish people as a race. She argued that most of the community is split on whether they’re a race or a religion. Whoopi also doesn’t understand why the Jewish community would end up “believing” the Nazis. She went on to explain why she thinks the Holocaust “wasn’t originally” about race.

“Remember who they were killing first,” Whoopi Goldberg continued. “They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision.”

The controversial interview went viral on Twitter. Many fans of The View have called for her firing. Whoopi has kept quiet about the interview until now. On Tuesday, December 27, the actress released a statement with The Hollywood Reporter.

Whoopi Goldberg apologizes for the second time

Whoopi Goldberg issued the statement to the entertainment outlet. She claimed that she wasn’t trying to defend her previous comments. The comedian explained that she was only saying what she was thinking at the time. She admits that she has been listening to many people within the Jewish community.

“It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments,” Whoopi Goldberg explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m still learning a lot and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me. I believe that the Holocaust was about race, and I am still as sorry now as I was then that I upset, hurt, and angered people. My sincere apologies again, especially to everyone who thought this was a fresh rehash of the subject.”

Is her apology enough? Some fans wonder if this was Whoopi’s way to get off the show since she looks like she hates her job lately. She has made many negative comments about being a moderator. Others think The View should fire her this time around.

  1. Why in the world is Whoopi even discussing something she knows absolutely nothing about? She needs to keep her big fat mouth shut!
She wants to appear as though she is so knowledgeable about everything when clearly she isn’t. She’s ignorant and looks and sound like a fool. Get rid of her already! (and change your phony Jewish last name while you’re at it whoopi!)
