Might Michelle Duggar be in denial as another one of Josh’s response appeals has been submitted? Fans are curious to know where the mother of 19 is at with her son’s legal troubles. Most of the Duggar family is laying low to combat negative comments online, so little is known about how they feel about it all. Now, fans are speculating about Michelle’s stance.
In the spring of 2021, Josh was arrested on child pornography charges. The father of seven was later found guilty and sentenced to 12 years behind bars. He’s now serving his sentence in Seagoville, Texas.

Amid all of Josh’s legal troubles, his mother Michelle Duggar has kept pretty quiet on social media. The same goes for his dad, Jim Bob Duggar, and many of his 18 siblings and in-laws.
When the family does post on social media, they typically receive negative comments and questions about Josh, regardless of the subject of their post. Anna Duggar, Josh’s wife, has even deactivated her Instagram profile. Because of this, fans don’t really know what is going on behind the scenes with the Duggar family. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar shared an Instagram Story post to promote their family’s Christmas video, but they have not shared much else in recent months.

Since Josh was arrested, he has maintained his innocence. He and his legal team have fought for an appeal but haven’t made any progress. This week, they filed another appeal brief, in which they claimed that the district court “violated Duggar’s right to present a complete defense,” according to KNWA, a local FOX affiliate.

On Reddit, fans are discussing the latest appeal submitted by Josh Duggar’s defense. And some of them are wondering where Michelle Duggar stands amid her eldest son’s ongoing legal battle.
One fan wrote, “I wonder what Michelle thinks of all this. I think her recent frailty is related to her realization that her headship, who she has deferred to her entire adult life, is defending and protecting someone who enjoyed watching the abuse of toddlers.”
Some others think she may be in denial. One noted, “But I don’t know if she is capable of such a realization at this point. If she is displaying any frailty or withdrawn behavior recently, I’m inclined to think it’s more a result of embarrassment.”
Of course, this is all speculation. At this time, the Duggar matriarch hasn’t made her true feelings known publicly, and it’s unclear if she ever will. But some are convinced she might still be in denial over it all.
