Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager slapped with a huge accusation. The Today Show co-hosts found themselves at the center of a controversy. Comedian Heather McDonald blasted them in the middle of her podcast. Keep reading on to learn more.
Hoda Kotb & Jenna Bush Hager slammed by comedian
Heather McDonald accused the duo of ripping off her podcast for their show segment. Her podcast, Juicy Scoop, grew in popularity over the years. Interestingly enough, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager have a segment called The Scoop. The segment takes place during the fourth hour of the morning show.
She wasn’t happy when she heard the television hosts have a segment that has a similar name and premise. Heather’s discussed pop culture subjects over the years. She mostly covers reality television and headline-making news. Heather also interviews celebrities and comedians on her show, which airs Tuesdays and Thursdays.
On her latest podcast episode, Heather slammed Hoda Kotb and Jenna for stealing her idea. A Juicy Scoop fan gave her the inside scoop about their segment.Justin Sylvester hosted the morning show’s “Scoopies.”Heather couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the segment and her own show.
“Juicy Scoop, my show that has been going on for seven and a half years, the two words together, ‘Juicy Scoop’ has been trademarked. That means they can’t have a shirt that says, ‘Justin Sylvester has the juicy scoop.’ He cannot sell that shirt. But, technically, this is not trademark infringement, but it is derivative of my brand,” Heather shared.
She called them out for ripping off her show and selling merchandise. Heather claims that she’s “doing great” because of her popular podcast. She then mentioned that Justin was a guest on her podcast many times. They even collaborated together on several projects.
Heather McDonald calls out Today Show co-anchors
Heather shifted her attention back to Hoda Kotb and Jenna. She mentioned that she also established a friendship with them over the years. Yet, Heather argued that no one knows who they are while she’s a household name. However, she doesn’t feel that the Today Show co-hosts didn’t break copyright laws. She just wasn’t aware they copied her brand.
“I was on E! which was owned by NBC, they know who I am, and this was just really s****y, and I am gonna call them out on it. I think it’s low creative ability on their part. I think it’s sad,” Heather continued.
Neither Hoda Kotb nor Jenna have responded to the controversy. Fans took to the Hoda & Jenna YouTube channel to support Heather’s Juicy Scoop podcast. What are your thoughts on Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager slapped with a huge accusation? Sound off below in the comment section.
