Henry Cavill Will Be Honored With ‘Heroic Sendoff’ In The Witcher Season 3
Henry Cavill is starring as Geralt of Rivia one last time in The Witcher Season 3. Moreover, showrunner Lauren Hissrich promises that this final season will be a “heroic sendoff” for the iconic character.
Speaking to EW, Hissrich revealed that they did not realize the significance when they filmed Cavill’s final season of the series. This was his final season on the Netflix series.
However, she still believes that the season will give him “the most heroic sendoff.”
Henry has given so much to the show and so we want to honor that appropriately.
Showrunner Claims Season 3 Is From Novel Time Of Contempt
Many fans of The Witcher believe that Henry Cavill left his role as Geralt of Rivia due to the storyline. He has always contended that he would remain in the series if the script followed the books.
Originally, he was a fan because he was a gamer and was familiar with the video game. However, when he spoke to Hissrich about the role, he learned about Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s body of work. He quickly consumed the novels and stories. Moreover, since he got the role, he has been vigilant on set to follow them.
But, in late October, Cavill left the series, and his reported $8 million per season. Now, Liam Hemsworth will replace him. Cavill wrote on his Instagram that he was moving on.
As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.
Once this shocking news came out, fans were convinced that he left the show and a hefty paycheck because of the script. Cavill did not fully explain himself. People assumed that he left for Superman. But, that fell apart. This is why his disagreement with the Witcher Writer’s Room is still the reason that fans of the show believe he left.
However, Lauren Hissrich seems to want to negate that idea. She says that the Season 3 story is from Time Of Contempt.
What is so interesting is that season 3, to me, is the closest thing that we’ve done as a one-to-one adaptation of the books. Obviously, we can’t do every page, but Time of Contempt gave us so many big action events, plot points, defining character moments, huge reveals of a big bad. There’s so much to do that we were able to stick really, really closely with the books.”
Only when Season 3 drops will The Witcher fans know the truth.
