‘The View’: Does Whoopi Goldberg Hate Being Moderator?

The View fans wonder if Whoopi Goldberg hates being a moderator. She shared that she has the “worst seat” at the table. This comes after she was slammed for checking out and looking bored at times. The moderator has received her share of criticism over the years.

Whoopi took over for Rosie O’Donnell in September 2007. She is now joined by Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. Whoopi’s role is to initiate the converastion and ensure it doesn’t go off the rails. On a previous broadcast, she admitted that she doesn’t have the easiest job in the world.

The View moderator complains about the corner seat

Earlier this month, Whoopi Goldberg made an appearance on Rob Lowe’s podcast, Literally! She addressed the struggles that she deals with in front of the camera. Whoopi shared her true thoughts when the two discussed her role on The View. Rob said that she has “the best location” at the round table.

The actor wanted to know if the comedian got to choose her seat. Whoop Goldberg joked that she doesn’t like the camera angles while sitting in the corner seat. She admitted that it was the “worst place to sit” for that reason. Whoopi gets insecure about how she appears on camera.

“If you’re concerned at all about how you look, it’s the one place that makes you look the biggest is at the end,” Whoopi Goldberg answered during the December 8th podcast episode. “It’s crazy.”

However, being a moderator has its perks. Whoopi loves to change up the topics during the talk show. There are times when she wants to switch to another topic because she’s bored with the current one. As fans know, she doesn’t love discussing dating or romance.

Whoopi Goldberg goes rogue during the final live show

On the Friday, December 16 broadcast, Whoopi Goldberg went rogue. She tried to close out the final show of the year. However, she realized that there was more time left. Whoopi hosted the final installment of the “12 Days of Holidays” segment.

The actress informed the audience that they will receive a $250 Ulta Beauty gift card. She wanted to share how thankful she is to have made it to the holiday season. Her fellow co-hosts agreed with her and were happy as well. Whoopi held her microphone as she made a little speech.

“Now, this is what we call ‘the stretch.’ This means they [the producers] thought they didn’t have this much time,” Whoopi Goldberg shared with the audience. “They didn’t have anything for me to do. But now, I can say to everybody thanks for coming. Thanks for watching. I want you to have a great day, everybody. Take some time to enjoy The View, and we’ll see you tomorrow.”

The live show continued for 30 seconds as the panel clapped and waved at the audience as they clapped. The show concluded for the season. The show is airing reruns this week. The View will return in the first week of January 2023.
