Wheel of Fortune celebrates a special milestone

On Friday, Wheel of Fortune released a behind-the-scenes video on its YouTube and social media platforms. The clip shows the co-hosts and crew members celebrating the 40th anniversary. Some of the staff rushed out to the stage to bring out a huge cake. The puzzle board behind Vanna White reads: “Happy 40th Anniversary!”

The hostess choked up as she took in the loving moment. Vanna wore a hot pink dress for the occasion. She remained speechless as she shrugged and walked over to the cake. Tears welled up in her eyes. Host Pat Sajak joined her for the festivities and shared a speech.

“Folks, it was 40 years ago on this very date that this young lady walked into the studio, trembling, and did her first Wheel of Fortune,” Pat shared. “And here she is. Happy 40th my dear.”

The two embraced and Pat gave her a kiss on the cheek. He looked just as emotional as Vanna did. He tried his best to hold back his tears. Vanna thanked him and everyone else as she blew a kiss. She stood next to a custom-made cake that featured the wheel along with images of the hostess and her iconic looks over the years.

“I can’t believe it’s been 40 years, I’m overwhelmed,” Vanna White exclaimed. “I just – thank you!”

She couldn’t stop crying during the touching moment. Pat jokingly said that she planned to do a musical number for her 40th anniversary. “No, I’m not,” she said. It was a loving and tender moment for everyone involved.

The Wheel of Fortune Twitter account shared the video along with the caption: “Only the best for our fashion icon, letter-turner, and a person with a soul as beautiful as she is!” Fans took to the comment section to share their thoughts. Most of them praised Vanna White.

Vanna White was just 25 years old when started on Wheel of Fortune. Pat was 35 at the time. She made her debut in 1982 when the show kicked off its regular episodes. Vanna beat out 200 other women even though Pat thought she was too nervous to join the game show. Yet, Merv Griffin saw something special in her.
