Supernatural Horror ‘Dark Gathering’ Gets A Spooky Teaser
Supernatural Horror manga anime adaptation Dark Gathering has a spooky new teaser. The upcoming anime series is based on the manga of the same name illustrated and written by Kenichi Kondo. With a total of 11 volumes, the mark is serialized in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Jump Square since March 2019. What is this new teaser about? When will Dark Gathering premiere? When Will Dark Gathering Anime Series Premiere?
On Saturday, the upcoming Jump Festa 2023 event revealed a fresh clip for the dark and horrifying anime series. Although most anime fans relate the Jump Festa with images of battle shonen titles such as Jujutsu Kaisen or Naruto, this clip is a reminder that Shueisha has a lot more in store.

Slated to debut in Summer 2023, the forthcoming anime stars:
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitaro Gentoga
- Yu Sasahara as Yayoi Hozuki
- Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hozuki
The horror anime is being directed by FLCL Progressive fame Hiroshi Ikehata alongside Shigeru Murakoshi overseeing the series scripts. As per Crunchyroll, Studio OLM is in charge of Dark Gathering’s animation which seems particularly dramatic and scary in the teaser clip. At New York Comic Con 2022, the series was licensed for English publication by Viz Media.

So, what is Dark Gathering anime about? And what is it that makes it so intriguingly scary?
Keitarou Gentouga Is A Spirit Magnet Who Ends Up Cursed
The series tells the tale of Keitarou Gentouga, who is an average college freshman with a fear of ghosts and the supernatural. However, his spiritual powers land him right where he doesn’t want to be, making him a magnet for spirits. This unlikely causes him and one of his friends to get cursed. He takes up the blame on himself and eventually shuts himself away from society.

However, with the help of Eiko Houzuki, his childhood friend, he gets a fresh chance at living a normal life. With Eiko’s advice, he becomes a private tutor who ends up teaching Eiko’s cousin, Yayoi Houzuki. Apart from being a genius, Yayoi also possesses spiritual abilities like Keitarou. However, unlike her tutor, she actively encounters spirits to find out who stole her mother’s soul. In doing so, she drags Keitarou along, even if he refuses to do so.
Dark Gathering’s Story Gets Increasingly Brutal and Unique
Together they come up with a solution where Keitarou will assist Yayoi’s mission and she will use her ghost knowledge to rid him of the curse. The thing that makes the manga scary is that there is plenty of body horror from ghosts that kill their victims in horrific ways. Not just that, as the story progresses, each kill by the ghosts gets increasingly unique and brutal at the same time.
