As TV Shows Ace reported, Carlin and her husband Evan Stewart took their kids on a special Christmas outing this week. They went to drive past the Christmas lights in their holiday pajamas. This is something they do every year. This is eight-month-old Zade’s first Christmas, so it’s extra special. Layla is almost three years old, so she’s at a fun age and is enjoying all of the festivities.

This might seem like a harmless Christmas tradition, but Carlin got backlash from fans on social media. Some felt that she was not keeping her children safe. While driving through the lights display, the kids were in the front seat with Carlin and Evan rather than sitting in their car seats in the back.

Fans rush to Carlin Bates’ defense over Layla and Zade’s safety.

In the comments section of the Reddit post, fans are defending Carlin Bates for allowing her kids to ride up front while looking at the Christmas lights. Several fans are pointing out that the car is likely only going a few miles per hour, so the chance of getting in a serious accident is very slim.

One fan commented, “I just went through one of these and the speed limit was three miles per hour… and we weren’t even hitting that.”

Someone else defended Carlin Bates and said, “There have been multiple studies and experiments showing that a car accident at under 5 mph essentially cannot cause physical injury. It’s simple physics.”

Yet another chimed in, “I’m as strict as it gets with car seats (my 5 yo is in a 5 pt harness still) and I let my kids sit up front on my lap going 5 mph through lights.”
