The co-hosts shared their opinions about the film, which is about the famous actress but doesn’t depict the true events of her life. Some critics that the film was made without Marilyn’s consent.

Biopics have been popular over the years. Later this month, the Whitney Houston biopic will debut in theaters. Sunny Hostin said she spoke to Whoopi Goldberg about Hollywood filmmakers who want to make a movie about her life. She admitted that so many people will want to make a movie about the famous comedian.

People won’t expect a biopic from Whoopi Goldberg anytime soon. The Color Purple star recently got Oscar buzz for her performance in the film about the life of Emmett Till and his mother, Mamie (Danielle Deadwyler). Whoopi stars in the movie as Alma Carthan, who was Emmett’s grandmother.

Unlike most biopics, director Chinonye Chukwu admitted that the Till family gave him their blessing to move forward with the project. Per Entertainment Weekly, she made the movie to “not just show their inherent sadness and pain” about the murdered teenager. The director also wanted to show the “joy and love that is really at the root of the narrative.”
