The View co-host shares new career move

During a recent broadcast of The View, Sunny Hostin shared the details of her bold new career move. She promoted her new smutty romance novel, Summer on Sag Harbor. The CNN correspondent has worked on the project outside of the daytime talk show.

Co-host Ana Navarro wanted to know if Sunny was going to release an audio version of the book and use her own voice. Sunny confirmed that she was not going to record the book herself. A voice actress would provide the racy narration.

Joy Behar was against the idea. She didn’t think it would be a good idea because of Sunny’s career. Joy mentioned that she would have to be vocal during the love scenes. Sunny agreed with her and said she’s too shy to read aloud the most provocative parts of the book even though she wrote them herself.

“It’s so stupid because I don’t want my parents to read it and think I do those things,” Sunny Hostin said with an embarrassed look on her face.

She was more concerned about her parents than her career. Sara Haines joked that they already know she does “those things.” Sunny also revealed that Joy was the inspiration behind the main character in Summer on Sag Harbor.

“You said: ‘You know, women over 60 have a lot of s*x,” Sunny Hostin pointed to her co-host.

“Well, that’s not me,” Joy joked.

Sunny Hostin’s career as a steamy romance author

The View co-host made her debut as a steamy romance author with the book, Summer on the Bluffs. The novel talked about a life-changing experience for a woman who visited the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard. Sunny Hostin writes about a group of complex characters who also live there.

This book was her foray into smutty novels. This might come as a shock to fans of the attorney. Most women would use a pen name to keep their careers separate from their moonlighting jobs. Sunny Hostin was confident enough to use her real name in her series of novels.

In her 2021 interview on Good Morning America, Sunny shared that she wanted an “escape” during “heavy, heavy times.” She was in the bookstore looking for a beach read that had a woman of color. Since Sunny was “thirsting” for something similar, she had to write it herself. It’s not just filled with romance; Sunny takes on tough topics as well.

She scored a three-part book deal with Harper Collins. What are your thoughts on Sunny Hostin moonlighting as a smutty romance author? Does this surprise you? Have you read any of her books? Sound off below in the comment section.
