Former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Writer Fabricated Her Cancer?
Former Grey’s Anatomy writer/consulting producer Elisabeth Finch recently confessed that she lied about her cancer diagnosis. The myriad of lies about her personal and medical history led to her resignation in March 2022. In an interview, she confirmed her wrongdoings and that it wasn’t okay to do so. Grey’s Anatomy Writer Lied To Feel Seen & Heard
In an exclusive interview with The Ankler, Finch admitted that she never had any type of cancer nor did Eric, her older brother, commit suicide. This was another lie she constructed while writing for the medical drama. It has now been confirmed that her brother is actually alive and working in Florida as a doctor.

Finch detailed the reason she lied and revealed, “I know it’s absolutely wrong what I did. I lied and there’s no excuse for it. But there’s a context for it. The best way I can explain it is when you experience a level of trauma a lot of people adopt a maladaptive coping mechanism. Some people drink to hide or forget things. Drug addicts try to alter their reality. Some people cut. I lied. That was my coping and my way to feel safe and seen and heard.”
Elisabeth Finch Claimed She Was Verbally & Sexually Abused
Back in March, Finch’s medical history and some of her past claims were questioned after several inconsistencies were found in her stories. She claimed that she was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and lost a kid, a portion of her leg, and then was misdiagnosed. The writer also claimed that she was at the receiving end of sexual and verbal abuse by a male director while working with The Vampire Diaries.

Before Disney could launch an investigation into the matter, she decided to leave the drama and check herself into an Arizona facility. Finch further revealed that after she left the ABC drama, her wife left her. Furthermore, her family members have disowned her and she is no longer allowed to see the children she helped to raise. Her days and now filled with unanswered emails and meetings with a therapist.
Grey’s Anatomy Writer Lied After Her Knee-Replacement Surgery
The writer claims that her lies started during the 2007 Writers Strike. This was when she hurt her knee during a hiking adventure and had to get knee-replacement surgery. She admitted that the support and attention she received during her surgery was something she kept chasing even after she healed. This is why she lied and made up things to bag that attention and support which started a chain reaction of never-ending lies.
