Hosting Jeopardy! until January 2023

Ken Jenning kicked off Season 39 of Jeopardy! In late January, producers announced that Ken and Mayim Bialik will continue to swap duties as full-time, permanent hosts. Fans were disappointed over the news. They were hoping that producers would choose one or the other.

The way that this work is that they will film several months of shows. Ken will host the game show from September 2022 to January 2023. Mayim will take over from January to July. Both of the co-hosts have other ventures. Ken is also on ABC’s game show The Chase.

Mayim stars on the FOX sitcom, Call Me Kat. She’s also the host of her regular podcast, Mayim Bialik Breakdown. As you can see, both of the hosts are very busy. It’s the reason why they can’t fit Jeopardy! into their lives. This was the best solution for everyone involved.

Ken Jennings teases new show

On Sunday, November 24, Ken Jennings teased a new show. He shared that he worked for a major television show. This sent fans into a tailspin since they already consider Jeopardy! a pretty big deal. He admitted that it was one of “the hardest jobs” in his entire television career.

“I was a dialect coach on Rings of Power and it was the hardest jobs of my life,” Ken Jennings casually posted on Twitter. “Teaching people to talk regular, but say ‘Morgoth’ real weird.”

Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is a popular new series on Amazon Prime. It’s the prequel to the classic movie and book series. Rings of Power is set “thousands of years” earlier in middle earth. However, Ken Jennings wasn’t listed as a dialect coach in the credits on IMDb.

Jeopardy! fans buzzed about Ken’s new venture in the comment section. They wanted to know if he was serious or joking. Others were losing their minds over his new role.

  • “Wait, really?”
  • “Oh my God, what?! This is so cool!!”
  • “That is the Alex Trebek way.”
  • “Wow! That is really cool!”

He hasn’t shared more about his new venture since. Fans assumed that he was soft-launching a new career path. Jeopardy! only tapes twice a week or five episodes in a day, which gives the hosts time to do other things. This comes after Ken made a guest appearance on Call Me Kat.
