Patti was also on The View to discuss her wholesome Christmas movie, A New Orleans Noel. The conversation shifted when Alyssa Farah Griffin brought up Patti’s iconic song. She walked out to that song. Alyssa mentioned that Patti is still performing that very song for her fans 48 years later on her tour.

She brings fans on stage with her during her concerts to sing it with her. They struggle to sing the French part. That’s when Whoopi Goldberg put her knowledge to the test. She learned French all because of that song. Patti admitted she didn’t even know what that part meant at first.

“It’s fun because they don’t know how to say the ‘Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir part,'” Patti explained.

Sunny Hostin brought up its meaning. The Godmother of Soul shared that she learned the meaning behind the French phrase just two months ago. Sunny didn’t believe her. Whoopi Goldberg schooled her: “It means, ‘come to my room.'”

“Yeah. That’s all. Or, ‘Will you dance with me?'” Patti responded.

“Come in the room and dance with me, yeah,” Whoopi Goldberg added.

However, Sunny claims that she found out it meant something different. The trio couldn’t agree on the origin behind the lyrics. So, they moved on to the next topic.
