Savannah Guthrie supported Al Roker amid his health struggles. The Today Show co-host reached out to him amid his ongoing health battle. Al was hospitalized for multiple blood clots. He returned home on Thanksgiving Day.

Unfortunately, he missed out on Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is the first time in 27 years that he wasn’t there for the live broadcast. Fans were missing him as well as his fellow colleagues who offered their support during the annual event. Savannah took to Twitter on Thursday, November 24 after he shared a major health update.

Al Roker is feeling grateful this Thanksgiving

Al Roker shared a photo of himself looking unrecognizable. The meteorologist rocked a gray mustache. He announced to his followers that he was admitted home. Al couldn’t wait to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family.

“So much to be #thankful for on the #thanksgiving day,” Al wrote in his tweet. “Leaving the hospital and home for #thanksgivingdinner.”

He shared a photo of himself watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade from his hospital room. Al gave his seal of approval to Savannah Guthrie and her co-host Hoda Kotb, who were on the screen. He was happy to just watch the annual parade.  Al has been part of the live coverage since 1995.

Savannah Guthrie took to his tweet to reciprocate the love. She wrote: “The best news ever.” This comes after she shared an update on Al’s health with Today Show fans. Earlier that day, Savannah and Hoda broke their hearts when they announced that Al won’t be with them this year.

“For the past 27 parades, at this moment, Savannah, we would turn to Al Roker, who’s our Today Show colleague and our best pal,” Hoda shared. “But as a lot of you have heard, Al’s recovering, and he’s recovering very well from a recent medical issue. We just want to say we love you, Al.”

Savannah Guthrie shared her warm wishes as well. She added: “We love you, Al. We’ll see you next year.” Savannah and Hoda were absent from the early morning edition of Today. Other correspondents filled in for them during the live broadcast.

Dylan Dreyer filled in for Al along the parade route. Fans and friends sent Al their wishes for a speedy recovery. When Al broke the news on Instagram, Savannah Guthrie wrote: “You’re the strongest person we know. We miss you and we will see you soon!!”
