While lost in LA, Mantis and Drax desperately attempt to locate Peter’s idol Kevin Bacon. They also pick up a star map that leads them on a trail of some popular Hollywood icons. On their way to Bacon, Mantis and Drax come across the locations of Margot Robbie and John Cena. Notably, both Robbie and Cena have worked with James Gunn in the past including their stint in DC’s The Suicide Squad.

Kevin Bacon Has A Musical Number In The Holiday Special

While this is the first time Bacon will star in MCU, his hit movie Footloose was previously mentioned in previous Guardian movies. Talking of his experience filming the holiday special episode, bacon expressed how much fun he had filming a musical number with an alien version of old 97’s.

He said, “I love to sing, I love to play, James sent me that song and I thought it was a really cool song. It’s very hard to come up with a new idea for a Christmas song, but the Old ‘97s cut this really cool Christmas song and I got to sing it with them. They’re actually in the band in alien make-up, so I had nothing but fun.”

GOTG Holiday Special Doesn’t Have Any Villians

Gunn addressed casting Bacon in the special despite the fact that he previously was a part of the Marvel flick X-Men: First Class as a villain. With the multiverse being confirmed, it’s possible Bacon’s Sebastian Shaw will appear in an MCU movie or series down the line. Unlike his villainous role in X-Men, Bacon will play a likable character in the upcoming holiday special. Moreover, Gunn confirmed that this holiday special is the very first MCU project that doesn’t have a villain at all.
