‘Frasier’ Fans Blast ‘Pointless’ Reboot, Won’t Watch It?

Beloved 90s sitcom Frasier is actually a spin-off of Cheers. But now, it’s getting a spin-off of its own. Paramount+ confirmed in early 2021 that they would develop a new version of the show. A lot has changed since Frasier ended in 2004. It’s time for the famous psychiatrist to explore the modern world.

Right off the bat, some fans expressed worry about the new series. They believed the series had a nice, clean ending and it wouldn’t make sense to reboot it. However, lead actor Kelsey Grammer was bound and determined to bring a new series to life. After several years of working on the project, it’s closer than ever to making its way to Paramount+.

After a recent development, many more fans think that the reboot will be a flop. Keep reading ot see why.

Frasier will return without one of the most popular characters

While many Frasier fans remain worried about the quality of the reboot, many others are ready to give it a chance. Last year, Kelsey’s ex-wife Camille weighed in on the Frasier reboot. Even though the two had a messy divorce, she wished her ex-husband well and even seemed a little excited about the new series.

However, it doesn’t seem like many Frasier fans are so excited about the show after recent developments. Sadly, it seems that fan-favorite David Hyde Pierce won’t reprise his role as Frasier Crane’s fussy brother Niles.

“For a while we were going to try to bring back the whole cast, the whole legacy cast,” Kelsey Grammer told PEOPLE in a recent interview. However, that changed after David Hyde Pierce bowed out. “David basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles.”

Now, the plot will focus on Frasier Crane exploring a brand new city with a new cast of characters too.

“He’s our brave little soldier that continues on in life, finding new challenges and a new love and new people and a new city and stuff like that,” Kelsey continued. “I’m really very excited about it, and we’ll certainly always honor the past. We have to honor the fact that John Mahoney died and that Martin is no longer with us. We’ll be dealing with that for sure.”

Rehearsals reportedly start in February 2023.

Kelsey Grammer works on other projects in the meantime

It will be some time before the Frasier reboot comes to life. But Kelsey Grammer friends are still in for a big treat this holiday season. The seasoned actor and his daughter Spencer are starring in a new Lifetime movie. 12 Days of Christmas Eve premiered on Lifetime on November 26. There’s still plenty of time for fans to catch another airing before the big holiday season finally arrives.
