Monday’s live broadcast of The View saw the return of Whoopi Goldberg. Her rep announced last week that she caught COVID. She had a “rough recovery” and struggles to catch her breath. This comes after the comedian opened up about her health problems.

Her co-hosts told her that they “missed her” while she was away. Whoopi said she was more worried about “trying to breathe.” She tried to take it easy so she wouldn’t make the serious condition worse. Joy Behar filled in as moderator during the week that Whoopi was out.

Joy had her normal day off on Monday. The following day, she returned to explain why Whoopi Goldberg was absent from the show. She shared that Whoopi tested positive for COVID.

“So rest up and get back here, Miss! When you feel better,” Joy told Whoopi. “It’s coming back. Another friend of mine got it, too. I mean, we have to be careful again. Damn!”

Whoopi Goldberg went missing shortly after her 67th birthday celebration. She celebrated her special day on Sunday, November 13. Fans were already concerned about her health and well-being. In a previous broadcast, Whoopi had trouble walking around the stage. Now, they’re not happy to see the actress back on the show so soon.

Receives cold reception

On Monday’s show, Whoopi Goldberg received a cold reception. She was slammed by fans for not wearing a mask during the live show. Only The View’s live studio audience was required to mask up. Whoopi admitted that she still had a cough and found it hard to breathe.

She also revealed that she was “the only person with a mask on” during her flight. She let out a cough, showing that she was still not feeling her best. Whoopi made it clear that she wasn’t “sick,” she just had to “clear” her throat. Fans took to Twitter to give her a not-so-warm welcome.

“Why is this woman not using a mask if she’s had COVID several times including last week, is one of the most unhealthy people I have ever seen & requires her audience to wear masks? Total hypocrisy,” one fan wrote.

“I accidentally had my channel on ABC & was subjected to Whoopi telling everyone to wear masks still while not wearing a mask & she wanted to make sure people knew that her coughs were not contagious after her bout with COVID. #TheView, posturing & telling women how to think,” another added.
