Maren Morris wishes D.J. Tanner was a “luscious lesbian.” She sounded off on Candace Cameron Bure’s anti-gay comments. As fans already know, she’s in a social media feud with Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany. In late August, Brittany jokingly thanked her parents for not allowing her to change her gender when she was younger. She was loving this “girly life.”

Maren and fellow country singer Cassadee Pope took to Twitter to call her out on her transphobic remarks. Now, she’s sharing her feelings for Candace’s “traditional marriage” comments. The GAC Family star’s interview with The Wall Street Journal went viral on social media, sparking debate among celebrities and the LGBTQ community.

Maren Morris says: “Make DJ Gay Again”

Maren Morris is the latest celebrity to speak out against Candace Cameron Bure. She said to “make DJ [Tanner] gay again.” Long before she starred in Hallmark Channel movies, Candace was best known for her role as DJ Tanner on the hit ’90s ABC sitcom Full House. The actress left Hollywood to start in smaller roles that were more in line with her Christian beliefs.

In her exclusive interview with The Wall Street Journal published this week, she shared that she also wants to “keep traditional marriage at the core” of the network. This is the overlining reason why Candace left Hallmark for GAC Family, which has a smaller viewership.

Her comments sparked a backlash from several celebrities, including JoJo Siwa, Hilarie Burton, Jonathan Bennett, and Full House co-star Jodie Sweetin. Even Maren Morris shared her thoughts. She commented on an Instagram post posted by Matt Bernstein that mentioned Candace’s controversial comments. Maren took to the comment section to write: “Make DJ Gay Again.”

She referenced the Netflix reboot Fuller House, in which DJ and her best friend Kimmy Gibbler performed the iconic Dirty Dancing choreography at a nightclub. Guest star Macy Gray called them “luscious lesbians.” At the time of this writing, Maren’s comment has over 9,000 comments. Of course, it’s received mixed reactions among fans.

Fought back at Fox News correspondent Tucker Carlson

This comes after Maren Morris used Tucker Carlson’s insult to support the entire trans community. She’s always been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Back in September, Maren raised over $100,000 in support of trans youth. The shirt features the saying “lunatic country music person.”

The insult comes from Fox News correspondent Tucker after she defended the rights of trans youth. He’s the host of his namesake show Tucker Carlson Tonight. Maren took a negative moment and turned it into a positive one. The proceeds went directly to the GLAAD Transgender Media Program and TransLifeline.
