Two contestants went home during the DWTS semifinals

There were many surprises in the ballroom this week. Witney Carson announced her second pregnancy while Len Goodman announced he would be leaving the show after the season finale.

It was definitely a lot of information to take in — especially since it was a double elimination night. By the end of the evening, viewers had quite a bit to process and digest.

The top six couples absolutely performed to the best of their abilities this week. They knew they had one last shot to impress the judges. All six couples performed magnificently. But sadly, it was the end of the road for two couples.

The DWTS semifinals was a double elimination night. In other words, there would be a bottom three instead of a bottom two. The couple with the lowest scores and votes would leave first, leaving two more couples. The judges would then vote to save one couple from the bottom two and send the other one home.

This week, Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater found themselves in the bottom once again. This week, Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart joined them, as well as Shangela and Gleb Savchenko.

Emma and Trevor had the lowest scores, so they went home first. That left Shangela and Daniel vying for the judges’ votes.

The judges unanimously chose to save Shangela and Gleb, securing their spot in the finale.

Sadly, Trevor Donovan and Daniel Durant’s time in the competition is over. But they both had an amazing run and should feel happy about their journeys on the show.

The final four prepare for their finale appearance in the Season 31 finale

After the elimination tonight, that means the top four competing in the finale are:

  • Charli D’Amelio & Mark Ballas
  • Gabby Windey & Val Chmerkovskiy
  • Wayne Brady & Witney Carson
  • Shangela & Gleb Savchenko
