‘Survivor’ Contestant Roger Sexton Dead At 76

Sad news for fans of Survivor as contestant Roger Sexton was confirmed dead at the age of 76. Per TMZ, the former Survivor contestant passed away after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

While newer fans of Survivor might not recognize him, Roger was a contestant on Season 6 of Survivor.

His family members confirmed that Roger Sexton died at his daughter’s home on Wednesday, October 26, in Walla Walla, Washington. He was reportedly surrounded by his loved ones and caretakers at the end of his life. Despite his death taking place at the end of last month, it is only just now being picked up and reported by media outlets. Survivor fans can only assume the family wanted time to grieve Roger privately.

The former Survivor contest suffered from a condition called Lewy Body Dementia. His obituary reads that he passed away “after a valiant and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia surrounded by his loving family and the caring assistance of Walla Walla Hospice.”

Roger was born in Oakland, California on September 26th, 1946, to Kenward and Enrica (Adami) Sexton, the middle of three children, between his older sister, Pamela, and his younger sister, Patricia. His youth was spent in the Northern California Bay Area, where he excelled at wrestling, developed a love for skiing, and formed friendships that lasted his lifetime.

The obituary mentioned regarding his time on Survivor: “Confidence, discipline, and determination to succeed were all vital components to Roger’s character, which assisted him in being cast on Season 6 of the reality TV show Survivor in 2002.”

At the time of his passing, Roger was the proud father of Heather and Amy. Sadly, his daughter Heather passed away in 1992 when she was just 16 due to viral pneumonia. He was also a proud grandfather to Drew and Hadley.

Since news of his passing broke, tributes from Survivor fans and other former contestants flooded social media to pay respects to him. And, to thank him for the entertainment he provided by being on the show. Many fans take peace in picturing Roger with his daughter Heather on the other side.
